Should teenage guys highlight their hair?

I am 17 and I have been begging my mom to highlight my hair for me (she is a cosmotologist). She says that it will look gay on me, but I think that something subtle will just be cute. Should I do it? If so, how do I convince her to do it when she has refused several times in the past?Should teenage guys highlight their hair?
you need to experiment with your looks to find something that will suit you and give you confidence.


having highlights in your hair, will not necessarily make you look gay, she jus assumes these things, and can probably think of a stereotypical image.





you could always say, you're jus experimenting with your hair to see what looks best and makes you feel good about yourself??

yeah don't bother, you probably won't convince her and you'll probably end up looking dumb even if you do.
I had mine Bleached for Our State soccer tournament for High school, I cut it and some blonde was left on the top, i absolutley hated it, i looked like a fag... the guys bleaching their hair was cool about 5 years ago, but not anymore.... you along with probably every guy in america would look gay
Don't do it. Believe me. I survived the fashions of the 1970's. Unfortunately, so did my high school graduation photograph.
GO FOR IT!!!! go for a light shade of blonde, tht always looks hot on dudes and just tell her ur matrue enuff for it...i mean ur 17 for crying out loud

Just dye it one basic color like blond or black....unless you have like all kinds of percings and stuff then dye your black and get red high lights that would be cool...but i'm too scared to do it...remember one color...or go for an amy winehouse (beehive)

You probably won't convince her to change her mind. You've tried several times already. It hasn't worked.





On the positive side, in just one year you'll be 18. Soon, you no longer have to concern yourself with Mom's permission for things like this.





Bottom line - as long as you live under Mom's roof, listen to what she says. When you are on your own, you can make your own decisions about your hair and how you choose to style it. And there must be other cosmotologists in town besides her!
Maybe she knows what she is talking about since she is in the trade. Normally I think teen styles that don't hurt you should be allowed by parents, you try it and you get over it. But since your Mom is in a position to know what she is talking about you should listen. If you begin to attract gay guys you may get into a situation that could be very traumatic for you.
Seriusly, Go for it.


My 13 year old brother gets all the girls, and has subtle blonde highlights in his light brown hair.


Since his hair is light to begin with, blonde is fine.


If you're hair is dark, stay away from blonde and go wiht a caramel color, or just a light brown!


Tell her you're almost 18.


Almost an adult.


If she won't do it for you, when you hit 18 you're just gonna blow your own money and get it done by a stylist anyhow.


So she can either do you a favor and do it for you, or there's the other way.


Either way, you'll look HOT, not the least bit gay!!

First of all people can't look gay, they just are. But I do agree with you if it subtle and a cute style to go along with it then go for it. Other than that the rest is all up to you if want to look like a fool or just rock it!!
well honestly i say go for it. Why not there are guy's out there who get their tongue's pierced or their nose pierced(or other areas) It doesn't mean that your gay just because you want to dye or streak your hair. i say go for it why not and don't listen to the negatives that people throw your way. it's your life and your body!!

im 14 and i have a guy friend who has naturally darker blonde hair and he puts in lighter blonde higlights. It looks realy great. Although he is bi. but still.
i am seventeen as well, i highlight my hair once a month... i am also a girl :)
it depends on your hair type most of the time it looks gay. i would trust your mom on this one.
